AlltheWeb
AlltheWeb is an Internet search engine which was introduced 1999 of almost Search and transfer basing on a 1997 of the same company developed Suchengine. Although it could keep pace with Google in size and technology, it never became so known.
AlltheWeb had even some advantages over Google. Added for example a more current database to it, more advanced search possibilities and one completely adaptable appearance. In February 2003 became the Internet search department of almost Search and transfer by Overture bought up, this one in turn in March 2004 of Yahoo! you took. One soon afterwards started, the database of Yahoo! for use the search and removed some extended one search options, such as the FTP search. AlltheWeb still allows the search on the basis of booleschen terms, however.
Search and transfer almost wanted to provide other search engines with the database at the start of the search engine, had done this like Inktomi similarly already before successfully. Lycos actually used the results 2000 in Lycos per search. The database had already increased to 200 million pages of 80 million at this time. The target to accept the entire publicly obtainable Internet wasn't accomplished, however, by far yet. The Crawler already had included 2002 over 2 billion pages and initialized such a new round in the fight of the search engines. In front of the buying up by Yahoo! the database contained about 3.0 billion URLs.
