The Boat

The boat (German: Das Boot) is the title of a novel of Lothar-Günther Buchheim which was confessed by the filming of Wolfgang Petersen. The action plays U 96 which runs out from La Rochelle in 1941 on the submarine in the second World War. Book home processes his personal experiences as a war correspondent in the book and describes the submarine crew the depressing situations with a high precision. The old is, war correspondent second lieutenant Werner of Herbert Grönemeyer, leading Fritz, degrees of Klaus Wennemann and the 2nd officer of the watch of Martin Semmelrogge, played by Jürgen Prochnow to call around only some. However, it has to be added that many actors had their breakthrough only by this film. Klaus Wennemann also was at the beginning of theater actors, Herbert Grönemeyer, but then started a music career. Otto Sander and Jürgen Prochnow were already well-known in the film business longer. Prochnow then went as one of the few actors to Hollywood, too. The first officer probably got no more large rolls in the film because of his negative roll.
