The English patient
Italy, within the last few days of the second World War: A mysterious curse seems each which is close to the dainty young woman, dies within shortest time to lie on the Canadian hospital nurse Hana. So her fiancé, Captain of the 3rd Canadian Füsiliere, is wounded fatally on the battlefield; her colleague and friend Mary dies short time later than her jeep drives onto a mine. The unknown patient is the Hungarian count László Almásy. Before the second World War he was working in Egypt for the Royal Geographic Society. He conducted an expedition together with his friend, Madox, and discovered the cave of the swimmers, a rock-scape cave which shows drawings of people, who seem to swim nearby Gilf Kebir. The joy at the sensational find is dampened by two new expedition participants by arriving. The English married couple Katharine and Goeffrey Clifton has been asked to come by the Royal Geographic Society it turns out later to Egypt to support the expedition, however, that Goeffrey Clifton has received the secret order but trained pilot and photographer to deduce the territory Westägyptens for the British armed forces. The loner Almásy meets beautiful Katharine distantly and tries to prevent that she stays as the only woman in the expedition store while her husband breaks Geoffrey open to Cairo to do alleged portrait photos of a British diplomat and his family. While the expedition is surprised by a desert storm, Katharine and Almásy come closer to themselves slowly. When the expedition returns to Cairo, both start with a passionate love-affair. Goeffrey undergoes, however, of the infidelity of his wife when it would like to surprise it for the one-year anniversary of its wedding. It becomes witness in front of the hotel as Katharine climbs into a strange cab and returns only in the next morning. When her husband asks her about it in the next day, what she would have done in the evening, doesn't give to have exited Katharine in front of the hotel.
