Turin - Italy
Turin is a city in the northwest of Italy. The town is located on the bank of the river botty on a height of 240 m and with an area of 130 km ². It is capital of the region Piemont and the province Turin.
Story of Turin
The municipal area was settled by Celt or Ligurern in pre-Roman time. In the first century bevore Chr. the romans here set up an armed forces store which was dedicated to the emperor Augustus later. The typical Roman town structure with streets running to each other right-angledly has got itself up to today's time. Romano is the accommodations V . the oldest, in the year 28 Chr. district founded by emperor Augustus.
In the 13th century the dukes of Savoyen took the town. It is a residence characterized by French influences since then, too and experienced brilliant times under Marie Christine of France in the 17th century.
By the union of Italy in the year 1861 Turin became capital. King Viktor Emanuel II. ruled from here, 14 different locks show the grand past. The capital function was, however, a status which the town had already to pass on to Florence three years later
